Kgalagadi Breweries Limited (KBL) is raising a toast to growth, with total volume up 4.3% year-on-year and Clear Beer leading the charge. Managing Director Carlos Bernit revealed that Clear Beer grew 9.1%, driven by Core Brands and premium expansion, with Carling Black Label topping the charts.
Premium brands soared 43.7%, tripling their 2019 performance, while the Beyond Beer category, led by Brutal Fruit and Flying Fish, grew 5.8% compared to last year. Brutal Fruit alone surged 54.7%, though Redd’s Vodka Lemon dipped 32% due to supply constraints and strategic shifts.
Despite losing some market share from Core bulk pack shortages, Bernit praised the team’s agility in a tough regulatory landscape. “We’re co-leading the premium segment and challenging the Beyond Beer market through innovation,” he said.
Sechaba Brewery Holdings also reported strong results, with net revenue up 14% and profit after tax rising 9%. Meanwhile, Coca-Cola Beverages Botswana (CCBB) posted a 32% profit increase, fuelled by volume-driven sales.
With plans to boost availability and introduce new products, KBL is poised to keep the taps flowing and the market buzzing.
