STRATEGY TALK Jwaneng Mine engages partners on new direction
Jwaneng Mine General Manager, Goitseone Gadifele, recently took centre stage at Albert Milton Hall as the mine hosted its first-ever engagement with business partners. Gadifele used the platform to unpack Jwaneng’s new business strategy, stressing that the changes represent a real shift in how the mine operates.
He explained that following an organisational structure review, several areas of the business have been reshaped, requiring adjustments to old ways of working. Gadifele emphasised that collaboration with partners is critical during this transition, saying the mine is determined to chart a new path forward together. He also commended partners for their role in achieving zero harm and urged them to keep safety performance strong.
Before Gadifele’s presentation, Senior Supply Chain Manager, Ponatshego Bobeng, had welcomed partners warmly, thanking them for their continued support and collaboration with Debswana. She encouraged open engagement and invited partners to work closely with the business in spotting opportunities that will help advance Debswana’s mandate, especially as the organisation navigates current economic pressures.
The partners themselves were not just passive listeners. ACC Botswana’s Thotheletso Modise encouraged fellow partners to collaborate closely and continue supporting Jwaneng Mine through unity and shared commitment. Wrapping up the session, Botswana Oil’s Thabo Simon delivered the vote of thanks, appreciating the mine’s openness in sharing its new strategy and overall direction
