MAMELODI SHOCKER Bennett Mamelodi dumps Jwaneng Galaxy
Hardly four months into his contract , renowned local football administrator Bennett Mamelodi has reportedly resigned from his position as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Jwaneng Galaxy.
Information reaching Pula24 is that the Mamelodi dropped the bombshell on the Jwaneng outfit sometimes this week and is in the process of relocating back to Gaborone having been based at the club’s office at the diamond mining town.
Details of his resignation remain sketchy as efforts to speak to both the club and the football administrator had not been successful at the time of publishing. As a developing story, Pula 24 will continue to follow up on the matter.
Mamelodi joined Galaxy in August this year in what at the time Club Chairperson Njabulo Gilika hailed as a big catch as the former Premier League CEO was to develop Galaxy as an attractive and relevant regional brand as well as to spearhead the club’s transformation and commercial agenda.
He resigns on the backdrop of his commencement of a rebranding exercise that culminated with the redesign of a new club logo that was launched on October 27 this year. The logo was meant to symbolise the new direction the club was taking. The club had earlier announced they would also be announcing their commercial strategy soon.
The club is also preparing to play in the CAF Champions League this weekend in Jwaneng against Zilimadjou FC from the Comoros Islands. On Thursday, The Patriot Online failed to get any information about Galaxy’s preparations for the weekend match, with club PRO Tankiso Morake saying he could not discuss the matter as “some internal issues needs to come out clear first.” MORE DETAILS TO FOLLOW
