Forever vibrant and full of running, Kgololo Kgogobi is set to play a leading role for Extension Gunners when they take on Jwaneng Galaxy at the Lobatse Sports Complex on Sunday in what should be a hotly-contested BTC Premiership encounter.
Both sides will look to build on to their positive results from last week, where Galaxy played to a 1-all draw against Miscellaneous and Gunners beat Gaborone United 1-0. Each of the two sides will be motivated by the prospect of improving their log standings ahead of the Christmas break. Gunners sit of position 4, two points ahead of Galaxy who are on fifth.
Mapantsola will surely be stirred by Kgogobi’s good runs on and off the ball, and his ability to take quick decisions and cross the ball into the dangerous area will spark the game. Gunners will further be motivated by the return of the brisk Mothusi Cooper who has been turning out for the Zebras Under 20 team at the COSAFA U20 Cup in South Africa. But coach Chicco Nare remains worried that his charges have continued to be inconsistent, and he told Pula24 this week that he will be looking to use the January transfer window to bring in about five experienced players. He says he is looking for an attacking midfielder, a full back and an extra striker among the areas he needs to bolster. He however remains optimistic that his players will rise to the occasion this Sunday to ensure the team goes to Christmas sitting within the top four bracket and in touching distance of the top spot currently held by Orapa United.
Meanwhile Jwaneng Galaxy could cause an upset having been on the rise in recent matches. Having started poorly and languishing at the bottom over the past weeks, the Jwaneng side has been posting positive results and are yet to lose a match since they got rid of assistant coach Philani Mabena who was accused of interfering in first team technical issues. The Jwaneng side will look to the brilliance of Lesego Lubinda, who always has a goal in him, to inject pace to their side and continue his magnificent goal scoring run in the BTC Premiership. He has now scored 3 goals in 2 matches.
Gunners’ supporters are expected to throng the Lobatse stadium and could play a major role in boosting the confidence of their team at a match pregnant with explosive power. Kick off is 1600hrs.
