Five International Netball Federation (INF) board members arrive in Botswana this Wednesday where they are scheduled seat for their November Board meeting in Gaborone ahead of the 2017 Netball World Youth Cup the Southern African country will be hosting. This follows the launch of the netball extravaganza’s Local Organising Committee (LOC) on Tuesday morning at the city’s opulent surbubs of Phakalane.
The INF Board members, President Molly Rhone, Liz Broomhead, Ann Tod, Claire Brigal and Jane Wrighton will be hosted by both the Botswana Netball Association (BONA) and the LOC as they, among other things, they will familiarize themselves with the host country’s material and human resources for the event.
BONA has been granted the rights to host the youth championship, a pinnacle event for the INF featuring athletes aged 21 and under. The NWYC2017 will bring together 20 countries, from across the 5 netball regions of Africa, Europe, Asia, Oceania and Americas.
As part of the engagement and familiarization activities, the Board of the INF will host their November 2015 meeting in Gaborone. The Board members will arrive at differnt times this Wednesday with Bromhead and Wrighton expected to touch down at 11:20, followed by Brigal at 12:45, Rhone at 13:30 and Tod at 19:005. The Board will then engage in several activities including a tour of the venues and facilities that BONA is targeting to use in 2017.
Rhone, the INF Board President, is also scheduled toaddress the media as well as pay courtesy calls on the Sports Leadership including the Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture and BONA Patron, Honorable Assistant Minister, Botlogile Tshireletso. Sports minister Thapelo Olopeng on Tuesday launched the LOC led by veteran administrator Prisca Mokgadi. Other members include Vice Chairperson Tebogo Kesupile, Head of Finance Girish Ramakrishna, Tsoseletso Magang for Commercial and Sponsorships, Dr Odiseng Lesedinyana for Medical and Doping while Stephaney Stoneham will oversee the event’s Marketing and Branding. BONA President Tebogo LebotseSebego will serve as Head of Communications and Protocol with Mpho Gaobakwe taking up the role of Head of Legal and Tiny Moremi for Project Management.
