BW PRIDE Botswana’s Lebogang Matheakgomo Honoured on Global Stage in Thailand
Botswana’s pride soared this week as Lebogang D. Matheakgomo, National Director of Junior Idol World Botswana, was honoured with three prestigious awards at the Junior Idol World 2025 pageant, being Best National Director; Best Supportive Director and an Appreciation Certificate.
Matheakgomo’s recognition comes on the heels of an extraordinary showing by Botswana’s young contestants, who dazzled the international stage with poise, talent, and cultural pride. The pageant, held on July 7th in Bangkok, featured participants from over 30 countries, including Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
Botswana’s delegation included five girls who brought home multiple accolades:
– Marang Isago Sapelo – 1st Runner-up, Little Miss Junior Idol World + Best Catwalk Award
– Tanisha Leepile – 2nd Runner-up, Miss Pre-Teen Junior Idol World + Best Sportswear Award
– Isago Ralethaka – 3rd Runner-up, Mini Miss Junior Idol World + Best Interview Award
– Katlego Matheakgomo – Miss Pre-Teen Junior World Rising Star + Photogenic Award
– Kalen Siti – Rising Star Award, Little Miss Junior Idol World
Matheakgomo, who has been instrumental in nurturing and preparing these young talents, expressed deep pride in their achievements, saying the girls gave it their all and left a mark that will be remembered and that she was proud of how they carried themselves and represented Botswana with pride.
Despite challenges such as limited sponsorship, the team’s success has ignited national pride and highlighted Botswana’s growing presence in international pageantry. Their triumphs are expected to inspire a new generation of young dreamers across the country.
