LEGACY WARNING Alex Forbes Beneficiary Fund Calls For Resilience
The Alexander Forbes Beneficiary Fund (AFBF) has sounded a national call for Batswana to take legacy planning and beneficiary protection seriously, warning that in today’s tough economic climate, families risk losing more than just financial security if they fail to prepare.

Speaking at a media briefing, AFBF Board Chairperson Mokgadi Nteta stressed that the Fund’s mission goes beyond numbers and administration, touching on Setswana values of Seriti and Boleng — dignity, responsibility, and generational wellbeing. “The decisions we make today will ultimately shape the opportunities available to future generations,” she said, urging citizens to think about the impact of their choices on children and dependants left behind.
Principal Officer Paul Masie reinforced the Fund’s role as a pillar in Botswana’s social protection framework, ensuring that benefits are managed responsibly and distributed to safeguard long-term welfare. He noted that structured financial support reduces pressure on extended families and public systems, while preserving the dignity of members for generations.

As Botswana’s largest beneficiary fund, AFBF pledged to work with employers, trustees, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to expand financial literacy and strengthen protection for vulnerable families. The Fund’s campaign aims to equip every Motswana with the tools to make informed decisions, protect loved ones, and build a lasting legacy.
With economic pressures mounting, the message was clear: beneficiary funds are not just about money — they are about securing futures, preserving dignity, and ensuring that no child or dependant is left behind.
