Limkokwing University unveils progressive developments


Limkokwing University of Creative Technology last week Thursday held its Annual Media Reception in recognition of the institution’s ongoing  relationship with the local media fraternity at its Block 7 campus.

A significant number of media practitioners turned up for this appreciative session held in their honour which the University used to unveil some progressive developments following the untimely passing of its Founder President, Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato Sri Dr. Limkokwing on the 1st June 2021.

The University announced the newly appointed Vice Chancellor Dr. Raphael Dingalo who is the former Human Resource Development Council Chief Executive Officer as well as the newly appointed University Council Chairman Dr. Theophilus Mooko who is former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Research, Science and Technology.

In his welcome remarks, Dr Dingalo stated, “In light of the Creatives significant contribution to Global Gloss Domestic Product, Limkokwing will work at strengthening the Creatives contribution to our Countries GDP. Furthermore, LUCT will strengthen efforts to produce Job Creators as against Job Seekers. The Creatives can also be called the JOBS Sector”.

Other notable developments that were annouced during the Media Reception included the new programmes that the University will be offering for the 2021 New Academic Intake such as the 21st Century High- Income Career Part Time & Short Courses as well as the 1 Year Certificates Courses that cost only P15 000.00 per annum.

When briefing about the flexible payment structures that are designed to increase access to tertiary education for private students who will be self sponsored due to not meeting the Government Sponsorship cut off points, Limkokwing’s Finance Manager Ms. Lenah Kelepile stated, “We understand the legitimate student concerns about affordability of university education. At the same time, we need to ensure that those who are not eligible for government sponsorship but qualifying for our programmes as Private Students will be allowed to pay tuition fees in instalments therefore enabling Batswana to access higher education if they come from underprivileged and working class families. Limkokwing university will also be offering up to 50percent scholarships to all associate degree and degree programme self sponsored students for the 2021 New Academic Intake which will begin in October 2021.

For her part the Director, Communication & PR Ms. Mercy Thebe highlighted that, the programmes run at Limkokwing are innovative, stimulating and designed to better enable graduates to meet the challenges of the new economic world order and transit seamlessly from academia to the world of work. The University’s TVET model for building human capital is based upon a broad vision of what learning and training should embrace coupled with a practical orientation as envisioned in particular by the fact that students on Limkokwing programmes are expected to produce practical work rather than simply learning theory in vacuum.
